Paignton (31/30)

Not being too pleased at having to end the 30 days where I live with a photo from last year I went out today (between showers) and took some shots of Paignton from a good vantage point. This is a pano of six portrait orientation shots, you may have to open the full sized version to see the following details. It starts with Preston on the left (Preston is part of Paignton), and goes through Paignton, Goodrington (also part of Paignton), Broadsands (part of Paignton), Churston and finally Brixham, ending with Berry Head. About a third of the way across from the right is Paignton Pier just above that is Roundham Head. I have to say that I am glad it is over, the weather has not been good for doing this, I may revisit the idea later in the summer (then again I may not ;-P)

Haytor and Saddle Tor (30/30)

As it hasn't stopped raining all day I have had to resort to a shot from last year, not really the way I wanted to end the 30 days where I live challenge but unfortunately out of my control.

Tomorrow I will go out and take a fresh photo! The last four days have not all been taken on the day as I have been very busy, weather permitting I will go out tomorrow and take a fresh bunch of photos.

Stover Lake (25/30)

We went out to stover today again for a walk. This is the view across the main lake.

Hound Tor #2 (23/30)

20 days later and I'm back to Hound Tor, much closer this time though as we went up for a walk with some of the kids and the dogs. If you want some idea of how big Hound Tor is check this zoomed in flash Earth map, in the lower right corner is a car park with cars to compare.

Treeline (22/30)

The Spanish Barn (21/30)

A rather flat and uninspiring shot of 'The Spanish Barn' built C.1196 by the monks at Torre Abbey and used in 1588 to hold 397 spanish prisoners of war from the Spanish armada, which is where the name comes from. In their somewhat questionable wisdom Torbay council decided to stick a pitch & put golf course in front of it and a rather tacky sign above the doors..

Pond (20/30)

I was out looking for trees to photograph today at Stover Lake. The area is owned by the National Trust and is a 'nature park' with walks and information about the various flora and fauna that can be found there. This is a small stagnant insect pond which is joined to the lake.

Torquay Sea Front (19/30)

Another shot from yesterday as today brought nothing but rain all day, again... This is the view of torquay sea front from the curly bridge, not a greatly inspiring view really but reality when you've lived here long enough to see past the summer veneer.

The Curly Bridge (18/30)

Another dull day in Devon ;-)

If you zoom in on the flash earth map you can see the bridge. I have no idea when it was built or who by, but it is a local landmark. Often you will hear lost grockles being told "turn right at the curly bridge" as there are several large hotels and hundereds of guest houses up that way.

River Dart @ Hexworthy (17/30)

Just a bit of the River Dart near Hexworthy, this is the same river that I shot HMS Westminster in, though this is much further up-river ;-)

Boat (16/30)

I had to use a photo from a few days ago as I have had no chance to take anything today. This is a small charter boat, possibly a wreck fishing or diving charter, passing Thatchers Rock on its way back to Torquay from wherever it had been that day.

Preston Beach (15/30)

Osbourne Park, Newton Abbot (14/30)

On Wednesdays I do voluntary work at Newton Abbot Youth Advice Centre, this is the view from the doorway. Not fantastically exciting I know, but it would have been dark by the time I was home so I wouldn't have got anything better by waiting...

Torbay Road (13/30)

Torbay Road, known locally as grockle alley because every shop is either a gift shop or amusement arcade. During the winter months most of the shops along Torbay Road do not open.
